Privacy notice for the Carryn website, mobile app, and related services.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Carryn collects, where it comes from, why it is processed, how it may be shared, how long it may be retained, and what rights or choices may be available to users under applicable law.
Operational data collection
Carryn collects the data needed to run accounts, listings, applications, deliveries, trust checks, payment flows, support, complaints, and evidence records.
Limited-purpose sharing
Carryn may share data with other users in a transaction, service providers, payment and verification partners, storage providers, professional advisors, and authorities where appropriate or required.
Recordkeeping is not liability acceptance
Carryn may retain evidence, complaint, and delivery records for platform operations and compliance, but that recordkeeping does not make Carryn the shipper or liable for the contents or outcome of a consignment.
1. Scope and Platform Role
This Privacy Policy applies to information processed through the Carryn website, mobile app, customer-support channels, complaint workflows, verification flows, payment-related onboarding, and related records.
Carryn operates as a platform connecting senders and independent carriers. Carryn is not the shipper, customs broker, carrier of record, or insurer of consignments, and the existence of platform records does not by itself transfer physical-delivery liability to Carryn.
2. Categories of Information We Collect
Depending on how you use Carryn, we may collect account, transaction, device, communications, and support information directly from you, automatically from your use of the platform, and from trusted service providers.
- Account and profile data, such as name, email address, phone number, city, country, account role, profile photo, and availability settings.
- Consignment and delivery data, such as titles, descriptions, routes, cities, deadlines, package details, declared value, recipient details, delivery method choices, special instructions, and customs-related statements.
- Application and carrier data, such as quoted rates, travel dates, pickup hints, notes, payout readiness, verification status, trust signals, and delivery status updates.
- Evidence and complaint data, such as intake photos, handoff photos, receipt photos, mismatch notes, complaint text, support requests, and admin-resolution records.
- Payment and provider metadata, such as transaction status, holds, refunds, payout-account status, processor identifiers, and limited financial or onboarding metadata provided by our payment partners.
- Identity and trust-check data, such as document-verification results, selfie-verification status, verification session references, and related provider metadata.
- Technical and usage data, such as device identifiers, approximate location inferred from account inputs, log information, browser or app version, IP address, timestamps, and interaction events.
- Carrier location data during active transit, limited to approximate foreground and background location pings collected after sender payment and intake when the delivery is in transit and device permissions allow it.
3. Sources of Information
We collect information from several sources: directly from you, from your in-platform activity, from other users involved in a transaction, from payment and verification providers, from storage and infrastructure vendors, and from automated logs generated when you access the platform.
4. How We Use Information
Carryn uses information to operate the platform, maintain safety and trust signals, process payments and payout workflows, respond to complaints, comply with law, and improve the service.
- Create and maintain user accounts and profiles.
- Publish, match, and manage consignments, applications, and deliveries.
- Enable in-platform communications, status updates, and evidence capture.
- Review identity, trust, fraud, abuse, safety, and payment risks.
- Process charges, holds, refunds, payouts, disputes, and related provider obligations.
- Investigate complaints, suspected policy violations, or suspicious behavior.
- Maintain records for legal compliance, accounting, tax, and dispute resolution.
- Measure platform performance, security, and product quality.
6. Payment, Verification, and Third-Party Service Providers
Some parts of Carryn rely on third-party providers for payments, payouts, identity checks, storage, communications, and infrastructure. Those providers may collect and process data under their own terms and privacy notices in addition to this Policy.
Carryn may receive status results, identifiers, limited onboarding metadata, compliance flags, and other operational information from those providers, but Carryn does not promise that all raw underlying financial or identity data is stored directly by Carryn.
7. Retention
Carryn retains information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including account administration, transaction completion, fraud prevention, payment settlement, support, legal compliance, security, complaint resolution, and recordkeeping.
Retention periods may differ by data type. Even if you close your account or request deletion, Carryn may retain certain records where required or reasonably necessary for disputes, tax, accounting, audits, payment reversals, legal claims, safety investigations, or compliance obligations.
8. Security
Carryn uses administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect information appropriate to the nature of the data and the service. No internet, app, cloud, storage, messaging, or payment system is completely secure, and Carryn cannot guarantee absolute security.
Users are also responsible for securing their own credentials, devices, accounts, email inboxes, and communications channels.
9. International and Cross-Border Processing
Carryn may process or store information in jurisdictions different from the one in which you live or use the platform, including through infrastructure or providers located in other countries.
By using Carryn where legally permitted, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored in, or accessed from jurisdictions with different data-protection laws than your home jurisdiction.
10. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction and the nature of the information, you may have rights or choices relating to access, correction, deletion, withdrawal of consent, complaint submission, or account closure.
Carryn may require reasonable verification before acting on a request and may deny or limit a request where permitted by law, where the request cannot be authenticated, or where retention remains necessary for legal, security, fraud, payment, or dispute purposes.
- You may update certain profile information in-app.
- You may contact carryn.support@gmail.com to request help with access, correction, deletion, complaint, or account-closure issues.
- Where required by applicable law, Carryn will process verified requests according to the rights and exceptions that apply in that jurisdiction.
11. California, India, and Other Jurisdiction-Specific Notice Points
Carryn intends for this Policy to function as a plain-language notice describing the categories of information collected, the purposes for which it is used, the categories of parties with whom it may be shared, retention considerations, and available rights-request channels.
Where California, India, or another jurisdiction imposes additional or non-waivable notice, rights, consent, correction, deletion, grievance, or disclosure requirements, Carryn will interpret and apply this Policy together with those mandatory legal requirements.
12. Children and Age Restrictions
Carryn is not intended for children and is not designed as a youth-directed service. If you are not legally allowed to enter into a binding agreement or use the platform under applicable law, you may not use Carryn.
If Carryn becomes aware that information was collected in violation of applicable age-related restrictions, Carryn may take steps to delete the information, restrict the account, or request additional verification.
13. Liability Notice
Carryn may retain complaint records, evidence photos, communications, verification references, and transaction records for operational and legal reasons, but that recordkeeping does not make Carryn responsible for missing, extra, damaged, delayed, illegal, unsafe, or misdeclared contents.
Users remain responsible for the consignments they post, accept, carry, receive, inspect, declare, and release through the platform.
14. Changes and Contact
Carryn may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date above reflects the latest version. Material changes may also be communicated through the website, mobile app, email, or other reasonable channels where appropriate.
Privacy questions, grievance messages, and verified rights requests may be sent to carryn.support@gmail.com.
Platform Position
This Privacy Policy is designed to explain how Carryn handles operational platform data while preserving the core legal position that Carryn is a technology platform and recordkeeping layer rather than the party physically carrying or insuring a consignment.
